The Nexus 5 2015 is likely just a few weeks from being announced and we've seen a lot of it, with various leaks and renders popping up over the last few months. But so far most of them have shown the back of the device and we're only now getting a good look at the side.
This latest leak was sent to Android Pit and it's supposedly a photo rather than a render, just with the background cropped out to protect the identity of the source.
The back matches up with what we've seen before, complete with a fingerprint scanner and Nexus logo, but from this angle we can get a clearer look at how far the camera lens sticks out.
Looks a lot like the old Nexus 5
More interestingly though we get a look at the side. The power and volume buttons, which look like they could be ceramic, are both on the same side of the phone and much lower down than on the original Nexus 5. But otherwise the general design looks pretty similar to the previous model, albeit somewhat slimmer, as you can see in the comparison shot which features the original Nexus 5 below the new one.
According to the source the edges of the new Nexus 5 are "probably not" metal and indeed from the picture they look plastic to us.
As with any other leaked image this might not be genuine, but it certainly looks the part. If you've got your eye on the new Nexus 5 2015 (or the Nexus 6 2015) you shouldn't have too long to wait, as not only are they likely to be announced on September 29, but a source speaking to Talk Android claims that pre-orders will open on October 13.
That still doesn't give us the shipping date, but it suggests they'll be in people's hands soon, just not so soon that they get lost in the iPhone 6S madness.
