Hosting24

Hosting24 is a web hosting provider from Lithuania that was bootstrapped in 2008. They’re a subsidiary of employee-owned hosting provider Hostinger, along with 000Webhost, Niagahoster and Weblink. The Hostinger network, and Hosting24 by extension, has more than 29 million users in 178 countries all over the world, with 15,000 new signups daily. The company claims to have had steady growth in the past few years, doubling their number of employees.

Hosting24 uses Hostinger’s seven data centers: UK, US, Brazil, Netherlands, Singapore, Indonesia and Lithuania, all of which are Tier III. Shared hosting users can only choose between the UK data center (Asheville, North Carolina) or European (UK). All of them offer great-level security and disaster recovery, and the features are laid out both on their website and Hostinger’s own.

Hosting24's plans are surprisingly cheap, although short-term commitment causes the prices to spike significantly. With a decent array of features and a robust infrastructure, users are likely to find everything they’re looking for.

Plans

Pricing

Hosting24 starts off incredibly cheap: only $0.80/mo for its Single Web Hosting plan when paid for 48 months in advance ($2.15/mo upon renewal), but this basic plan is extremely limited, with only one website supported, 10GB disk space, 100GB bandwidth, one MySQL database and one FTP user.

The Premium Web Hosting plan ($2.15/mo initially, $3.49/mo upon renewal) removes most of these limitations (only disk space is limited at 20GB) and adds a free domain registration with their annual plan. They also offer money back within the first 30 days and accept cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrencies (but these cannot be refunded).

Ease of use

Signing up with Hosting24 is very easy: they will only need your name, email address, and a secure password to get you started. After you’ve purchased your plan and made your choice between an EU or US data center, you get access to their so-called hPanel. Those who prefer a cPanel will have to purchase a separate plan with the CMS integrated, and the price starts at $1.95/mo for a 48-month contract. From either panel, you can either get down to business setting up your website or browse their integrated store to upgrade your plan or add more features.

Zyro

Easily create your website using Zyro's website builder (Image credit: Zyro)

One of those features is the website builder Zyro. Basic access to Zyro is free, but you can also purchase a premium membership (with your first month for free). WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and numerous other scripts are available as one-click installs. They also have PHP frameworks like Laravel, Phalcon, Zend, or Symfony, but also a file manager if you’d rather just upload your website.

Other features available in the store include an SEO toolkit, NordVPN, the NordPass password manager, Sleeknote, and G Suite. You can also purchase a new domain name through Hosting24’s store. If you’re going to need assistance from the Hosting24 customer service team on a relatively regular basis, you might want to purchase Priority Support, available 24/7 365 days a year, which will set you back at least $1.99/mo if you go for the 48-month contract.

Performance

We used GTmetrix's speed test to measure the performance of our Hosting24 site (Image credit: GTmetrix)

Speed and experience

A GTmetrix speed test of Hosting24’s main website puts it significantly above average, needing only 3.9 seconds to fully load (compared to the average 8.3 seconds), with 73 requests, whereas the average is 89. Considering the fact you’re offered a choice between data centers based on the location of the majority of your target audience, their hosted websites are likely to perform similarly well.

When it comes to uptime, Hosting24 guarantees at least 99.9% of uptime, which translates to around 8 hours 45 minutes of annual downtime, or 20 minutes of biweekly downtime. Our test, which spanned two weeks, recorded no downtime of Hosting24’s main website. Although the testing period is relatively short, it can often be indicative of a general trend - and Hosting24 seems to be doing well.

Support

Hosting24 offers two main ways to get in touch with customer support: through their 24/7 live chat feature and a ticket submission form. Although they claim to be available at any time, customers who purchase Priority Support plans get just that, while others may have to wait a little longer.

Support

Hosting24's Knowledge Base has articles, tutorials and guides to help get you started (Image credit: Hosting24)

The provider also offers a Knowledge Base with sections separated into Website, Domains, and General (which is just a place where you can access any section, including the former two). The Knowledge Base covers a decent number of commonly asked questions, but also offers a list of articles, tutorials, and guides that help newcomers get started, including topics like “I want to create a website but I have no technical knowledge” (although this one doesn’t offer much help beyond “use our Website Builder”). Hosting24 does not have a customer forum.

The competition

Although Bluehost does not have any plans quite as cheap as Hosting24, their most basic plan already offers significantly more than the latter’s in terms of performance. The prices of both increase after a certain period as well.

Hosting24 ranks above Hostgator in both price and data center availability, as the former lets users choose between Europe and US. However, Hostgator’s guides and how-to articles are great for beginners.

When it comes to price, Catalyst2 gives Hosting24 a run for its money. However, the former’s data centers are only located in the UK, while Hosting24 gives users a choice based on their target audience’s location.

Although Gandi has been around for longer, Hosting24 is still much cheaper. Gandi’s 10-day free trial with no strings attached is extremely attractive, and they don’t have the same restrictions on features that Hosting24 does.

Final verdict

Hosting24 is a great hosting provider for people from all around the world, with attractive features and prices, which, admittedly, require long-term commitment. They perform similarly to the likes of Hostgator and Bluehost, making them a great choice for beginners and veterans alike.
